Plant Stand Makeover

Hey, remember when I found that planter stand on the side of the road and brought it home because free furniture?

It’s looking a lot better these days.

1Let’s get a before shot for some contrast:

So much rust.

See what I mean? Muuuch better. And it didn’t take that much effort, just some patience with sanding and then a coat of spray paint. This is one of those projects that has been on my to-do list forever and I’m so glad I finally finished it.

2The paint I used, Rust-oleum in “warm yellow”.

I found the colorful pots at Michael’s on sale for $2 a piece.

They’re pretty enough to just leave empty if I get lazy, but I think I’ll try to plant something in them once I get to school. And by “once I get to school”, I really mean once I can ask my roommate extraordinaire (whose father owns a garden center) what kind of plants I would be least likely to kill. Because my roomie is a boss and knows all about plants, like if you point to a plant she can tell you what it is and where it’s from and stuff. It’s a fun party trick.

4And to think that someone else had given up on this poor planter stand. Sometimes a little elbow grease and a fresh coat of paint can go a long way.

Anyone else rescue anything from the curb lately? Finish any projects that have been on your to-do list?
